전시에 앞서 4월 뉴욕 MOMA, Parsons The new School for Design 그리고 Eyebeam과 협력하여 프리-오프닝 심포지엄도 진행하였다. 더불어 유럽의 국제미디어아트축제기관과도 협력하여 오스트리아의 아르스 일렉트로니카, 독일의 EMAF, 일본의 JMAF가 참여하였다. 참여작가로는  걷는 로봇을 선보인 오스트리아의  Stelarc,  퍼포먼스 로봇설치작품을 소개한 Chico Macmurtrie , 크로아티아출신 여성미디어아티스트 Magdalena Pedrin, Vortex라는 작품을 선보인 독일의 Christoph Hildebrand 등이 참여했다.

전시이외의 부대행사로 올리버 그라우, 피터 바이벨, 등 전세계 미디어이론가들이 참여한 포럼도 진행되었다. 현재의 미래 혹은 미래의 현재라는 주제로 Christine Schoepf (Co-Artistic Director, Ars Electronica Linz), Kelli Dipple (New Media Art Curator, Tate, UK), Barbara London (Media Curator, MoMA, US), Alfred Rotert (Director, EMAF, Germany), Mike Stubbs (Director, FACT, UK), Kim Machan (Director, MAAP, Australia)등 미디어아트전문가들이 모인 라운드테이블 토론도 주목받았다. 메인 전시에 포함되있는 Screening Program 에서는 바바라 런던이 기획한On Time 주제로 빌 비올라, 마이클 스노우 등의 실험영상, Emaf 디렉터 Alfred Rotert 가 기획한 신인 비디오아티스트, 유럽미디어아트 등이 소개되기도 하였다. 아티스트 토크와 워크샵 등 한달간 전세계 진행형의 미디어아트를 선보인 “미디어 아트 차이나 2008” 은 중국의 향후 미디어아트에 대한 관심으로 이어질지 기대하게 하는 대규모전시다.
